DPC President Atty. Constantine Agustin accepts Certificate of Appreciation from the Mun. Tourism Officer of Pantukan, Ms. Joy Rabe Montejo.

DPC covered the first ever Pantukan Kite Flying Festival with the theme, “Soaring High Pantukan” on May 11-12, 2016. The local government through its tourism office under the leadership of Ms. Joy Rabe, undertook the project which aims to revive kite-flying and making, considering the challenges posed by online games and other internet activities to the youth.

DPC was there in the interest of keeping up with its cause to promote local tourism and preserve culture.

Davao Photographers Club Joins the 5th Tabanog Festival (2016)

DPC covered the events of the 5th Tabanog Festival held in the Municipality of Padada, Davao del Sur, on May 14-15, 2016. True to its advocacy to promote environmental awareness, DPC supported the mangrove and coastal clean-up activity of the Katuggan Project (NGO) in partnership with the local government of Padada, as a side event of the Festival. “Tabanog” in english is “Kite.”

Thereafter, the DPC covered the kite flying competition where it picked the most photogenic kite. By participating in the the festival, DPC contributed to the promotion of tourism in Padada and was able to help revive the Filipino culture of kite-flying.

Davao Photographers Club Joins Kaamulan Festival 2016

DPC travelled to Malaybalay City, Bukidnon, on April 1-2, 2016, to join the Kaamulan Festival 2016, dubbed as the only authentic ethnic festival in the Philippines.

A personal account of DPC participates reads: “…(W)ith  the DAVAO PHOTOGRAPHERS CLUB (DPC), we shoot the the Streetdancing and Float Parade Competition, the culminating festivities of Kaamulan. Being my first, did some research beforehand and Kaamulan is said to be the only authentic ethnic festival in the country, though read some that it was once referred to only as that by a former Tourism Secretary.”…CONTINUE READING…

Davao Photographers Club Team Building

Consistent with its objectives for the year, the DPC had its first team building activity that coincided with its regular monthly meeting and photo safari on May 7-8, 2016 at the Ang Tribu Bagobo Woodlands Upland Resort in Brgy. Binaton, Digos City.

The team building activity focused on “knowing oneself in order work well with others” was facilitated by DPC-PIO Janoz Xn Yesu Laquihon of JKR Multimedia with his wife Ching who extended their services “pro bono.” The activity composed of self-assessment tests and application through couple games and activities.

After the team building, DPC had a photo safari during sunset and woke up early the next day for sunrise shoot at Lake Rosario, dawn the next day. The 2-day activity ended with a photo safari of the And Tribu Bagobo Woodlands Upland Resort facilities, its flora and fauna.

Davao Photographers Club Officers Inducted

The first set of DPC Officers (2016-2017) were inducted to office on May 7, 2016 at the Ang Tribu Bagogo Woodlands Upland Resort in Brgy. Binaton, Digos City. The oath was administered by the current Tourism Officer of Sta. Cruz, Davao del Sur, Mr. Julius Paner.

The Davao Photographers Club (DPC)

The Davao Photographers Club or DPC was established in February 27, 2016 by a group of thirteen (13) men and women, driven by a common goal to employ their love and enthusiasm of photography to promote tourism, preserve culture and care for the environment.

THE CAMERA: It represents a group of people who has a common passion in photography and who envisions in promoting culture, tourism and environmental awareness while enhancing the skills of its members and other aspiring photographers.

THE DURIAN FRUIT: It symbolizes the home of the DPC, Davao City, the Durian capital of the Philippines. The thirteen (13) spikes represent the 13-pioneer members.

THE SHUTTER: The five (5) blades symbolize the five (5) core values which are Camaraderie, Respect, Love, Acceptance, and Open communication.
The colors Green represent life, renewal, growth, harmony and nature; Red represents the lifeblood that runs through each member and extends to the community it reaches out to; Black represents strength.
